I was born and raised in New Orleans and grew up with the sounds of Dixieland jazz, rhythm and blues, and pop. At the age of nine, my grandfather bought me a trumpet and I learned the basics of music, hoping to be the next Al Hurt. In 1963, my life changed forever when I heard the Beatles on the radio. I bought my first guitar at the age of twelve and like the song said “played until my fingers bled." I was playing my first professional gig by the age of fifteen, and by the time I was legal to be in clubs, I had already played my share of them. I played in groups with names like The Shadows of Eternity, Potter’s Field and Bayou. During this time, I also had the opportunity to work as a vocalist in some of the areas top recording studios. In addition to working in studios and playing, I was also compiling a nice collection of original music. I also wrote and sold a couple of radio jingles. In 1979, I helped form a group called Flite. This group was a very popular musical influence on the north shore area of Lake Ponchartrain until they disbanded shortly after the untimely and tragic death of drummer, founding member and good friend Kevin Frere in the summer of 2005. I stayed with Flite playing numerous venues including clubs, weddings, private parties, Mardi gras balls and fairs until 1989.
In April 1989, I left the U.S. for a seven-year European tour. Living in England and Germany, I played with a pair of German musicians in a trio called The Night Dogs. Living and playing in Europe was a tremendous experience. I met many interesting people, made many friends for life, learned a lot about European cultures and even got fluent in German. I learned some English too. Eventually all good things must end, and so it was that I returned stateside in 1996.
I thought Pensacola would be a good place to settle. I’ve always enjoyed visiting the gulf coast, and having traveled to exotic places like Hong Kong, Hawaii, Palma Majorca, Cannes, Cyprus, and the Caribbean, I consider the area from Gulf Shores, AL to Panama City, FL to have some of the best beaches in the world. It’s such a joy to live and play right here on the Redneck Riviera. I’m happy to call it home. Finding work at first was not easy for this new kid on the block, as the area has an abundance of fine musicians. Now, however, I enjoy just about all the work I can handle. I’ve had a chance to put together five CD’s featuring my original music and collaborations with some of my good friends. Check out my Music page to sample and buy my stuff. I recently completed work on a musical I’ve been writing for about a year and a half and hope to have ready for production in 2009. Much of my work is entertaining at private parties, group conferences at some of the area's finest resorts, and weddings, so these details do not appear on my event schedule. I do make occasional public appearances at area hotels and restaurants and will update those on my Schedule page. If you are interested in having me entertain at your event please contact me for information on availability and fees.
